How does it work?

We map all attached network devices and use the account information from Active Directory on the Small Business Server. The appliance monitors all the data on the SBS server (including Exchange and SQL Server) and workstations. Based on your preferences, it will process full backups weekly and/or monthly, with incremental or differential backups in between. The data is encrypted, indexed and archived automatically off-site. You can specify different retention periods and decide how long a retention period you want.

Retrieval

Because the latest copies are local, you can rapidly recover any recent files. Old files, automatically archived off-site, are available directly. A browser-based retrieval interface enables file recovery at any machine regardless which machine originally created the file. Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista are supported for backup – with no client installation – using the existing SMB/CIFS shares. A tree view of all your data allows you to easily locate and retrieve files no matter where they are stored.

Your data is protected consistently using encryption on locally stored data, remotely stored data, and over the wire. All data is encrypted using unique keys for each individual customer. Each system includes integrated key management and key rotation.
